What is the ECA certification?

The ECA (Accredited Accounting Expert) is a professional accreditation created in 2013 by the Spanish Association of Accounting and Business Administration (AECA) to rigorously identify highly qualified professionals in accounting and financial reporting.

It is important to note that the ECA is not an official state qualification, but rather a professional accreditation granted by AECA (an entity declared of public utility) that recognizes objective merits and a solid trajectory in the accounting field.

What does the ECA certification imply?

The ECA accreditation entails:

  • Verified professional recognition, supported by one of the most influential entities in the accounting field in Spain.
  • Validation of knowledge and experience, demonstrated through an objective and documented process.
  • Greater credibility with clients, investors, and auditors by working with professionals whose competence has been independently evaluated.
  • Commitment to the quality and responsibility standards defined by AECA.

How is the ECA certification obtained?

The ECA accreditation is valid for five years and requires a renewal process in which the professional must provide new merits and continued training accumulated during that period.

To award the accreditation, AECA applies a minimum scoring criteria that evaluates aspects such as professional experience, academic training, and knowledge transfer, including teaching, publications, or participation in conferences.

Additionally, the evaluation committee analyzes achievements and merits obtained in the fifteen years prior to the application, independently verifying all documentation submitted.

Adlanter, an ECA‑Accredited Entity since 2018

Adlanter appears in AECA’s list of ECA‑Accredited Entities since 05/22/2018, with the code ECA/P716/0006. What does this mean for you? That your projects are led by teams and managers who are Accredited Accounting Experts, following AECA‑verified principles of quality and responsibility.

This means that you work with an advisory firm that:

  • Meets the highest quality standards defined by AECA.
  • Has Accredited Accounting Experts leading its accounting departments.
  • Operates under the ECA principles of quality control and responsibility.
  • Develops reports and recommendations with maximum technical rigor and transparency.

Few firms in the sector can demonstrate this level of excellence.

How it benefits you as a client

Working with ECA‑accredited professionals translates into:

  • Greater reliability and clarity in your accounts: Your accounting criteria, financial statements, and technical reports are prepared by specialists whose experience and training have been evaluated and re‑evaluated under an independent standard.
  • More security before third parties: AECA maintains agreements and recognitions that give visibility to ECA experts in certain higher courts of justice and in situations where independent experts are required (such as in some Registry of Commerce processes). This provides an additional layer of security and credibility when needed.

Cases where ECA makes the difference

  • Clear and reliable annual accounts, prepared with consistent and solid accounting criteria.
  • Error‑free legalisation of accounting books, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
  • Advanced financial and accounting analysis, useful for investors, audits, or strategic decision‑making.
  • Accounting expert reports and independent actions, where ECA accreditation adds significant value.
  • Ongoing accounting management, with professionals who stay permanently updated according to the latest regulations.

At Adlanter, the ECA certification represents far more than a professional accreditation: it is a constant commitment to quality, precision, and transparency across all our tax and accounting advisory services.

Every report, analysis, and recommendation we provide is backed by accredited experts whose background and training meet the most demanding standards in the sector.
