We want to inform you about a significant legislative change related to the investor visa program, known as the Golden Visa.

Today, January 3, 2025, the Official State Gazette has published Organic Law 1/2025, dated January 2, on Measures for the Efficiency of the Public Justice Service, which includes the complete elimination of this program.

It is crucial to highlight that the new regulation will come into effect three months after its publication in the Official Gazette. Until then, applications can be submitted as usual.

Key Aspects of the New Regulation

The legislation establishes that:

  • Approved authorizations, ongoing applications, and renewals of already granted permits will continue to be regulated under the framework of Law 14/2013.
  • These cases will not be affected by the changes introduced.

 

Transitional Provision

The regulation includes a transitional provision that protects the rights of those who have already obtained a Golden Visa or initiated their application before the new regulation takes effect. This ensures that these cases will proceed under the current conditions.
